Train on land. Surf it on every wave.

Master your pop-up.

PopUpTime uses your iPhone camera and on-device pose detection to watch your surf pop-up, time it to the hundredth of a second, and help you make it smoother — a few honest reps a day, a faster take-off when it counts.

📱 On-device·⌚ No wearables·🌊 Works anywhere

Speed comes from reps, not hacks — and you can't get reps in the water.

PopUpTime turns a few minutes on your living-room floor into a pop-up that's ready for the lineup. No wearables, no gym. Just your phone, a little space, and one honest rep at a time.

How it works

Three steps, then it runs itself.

Set your phone down

Prop your phone against anything, step back, and lie down like you're paddling. PopUpTime finds you in frame — no floor marks, no calibration, no setup.

Pop up

Do your pop-up. On-device pose detection tracks your whole body and times the move from the first drive off the deck to both feet planted in your stance.

See it, smooth it

Get your time and a rep-by-rep replay, so you can spot what's slow and make the next one cleaner. A daily goal and streak keep the habit going.

Why it works

A coach in the camera, not another feed.

On-device pose detection

PopUpTime runs a full-body pose model right on your phone, tracking dozens of body points in real time. No wearables, no markers, no internet needed.

Timed, rep by rep

Every pop-up is measured to the hundredth of a second and logged — so you can actually watch 1.5s become 0.7s over the weeks, instead of guessing.

A habit that sticks

Daily goals and a streak keep you coming back. Small, consistent reps on land are exactly what show up when you're paddling into a real wave.

Privacy

Your camera never leaves your phone.

PopUpTime analyses your pop-up entirely on-device. The camera feed and the pose data are processed live and are never uploaded, stored on a server, or seen by anyone — including me. That isn't a promise bolted on later; it's how the app is built.

I built PopUpTime because the pop-up is the one move that makes or breaks a wave — and the only way to get faster is reps, which you can't really get in the water. So I put a coach in the camera: set your phone down, pop up, and watch the time drop.

Questions

Reasonable things to ask.

Do I need any equipment?

No. Just your iPhone and enough floor space to lie down and stand up. Prop the phone so it can see your whole body, and you're set — there's nothing to wear and nothing to calibrate.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. All the pose detection runs on your device, so you can practise anywhere — the garage, the beach, a hotel room — with no signal required.

Is my camera footage uploaded anywhere?

No. The camera is processed live, on your phone, and is never sent to a server or saved anywhere unless you choose to keep a replay clip — and those stay on your device too.

What does it cost?

PopUpTime is free to download and try. Full practice is a subscription: $59.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $17.99 a month. Cancel any time from your iPhone's Settings.

Can it lock my distracting apps too?

Optionally, yes — PopUpTime can hold apps you choose behind your daily practice using Apple's Screen Time system. But that's a bonus, not the point. The point is a faster, smoother pop-up.

Android?

Not yet. PopUpTime is built on iPhone frameworks today, so an Android version would be a separate build. If you want it, join the Android waitlist and I'll email you the day it's ready.

PopUpTime is iPhone-only today — the pose detection depends on iPhone frameworks. Android is next. Leave your email and you'll be the first to know the day it lands. No other mail, ever.
